Alewijnse nearing milestone on CSS Den Helder
Alewijnse is nearing a milestone in the electrical installation activities, including of the military equipment, for the Royal Netherlands Navy’s (RNLN) Combat Support Ship (CSS) Den Helder.
Around 60% of the steelwork is complete and now the company is starting with the cabling activities on board the almost 200-meter-long vessel.
“Meeting the high complexity of the project is being aided by the application of innovative techniques, such as a high degree of 3D modelling, to monitor processes very carefully for optimal efficiency.”
Project Manager Cătălin Androne
Alewijnse was selected by Damen as main electrical installation contractor on the new CSS Den Helder in 2020, due to the previous successful cooperation of many highly complex defence & security projects for navies around the world.
The vessel is being built by Damen Naval to support multiple naval missions of the RNLN. The construction takes place in modules at Damen in Romania, where the first hull parts were recently launched. The ship’s final components and the combat management system will be installed in Den Helder.
