Jan De Nul dredgers
Alewijnse has renewed all dredging process automation systems on board four trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHDs) from the fleet of Jan De Nul Group.
On board of each of the four trailing suction hopper dredgers, Alewijnse renewed an Alarm and Monitoring System (AMS), Dredge Control System (DCS), Alewijnse Draught and Loading System (ADLS) and an Alewijnse Suction Tube System (ASTS).
The main reason for Jan de Nul Group choosing Alewijnse, was the confidence in its automation specialism and its 24/7 service support. On board the four trailing suction hopper dredgers Francis Beaufort (11,300 m³), Filippo Brunelleschi (11,300 m³), Juan Sebastián de Elcano (16,500 m³) and Kaishuu (16,500 m³), Alewijnse optimised the process automation in such a way that maximum benefits are achieved in the areas of environment, safety, productivity and reliability. This allowed the company to actively contribute to the high quality and low risk of Jan De Nul's projects.
On board of each of the four trailing suction hopper dredgers, Alewijnse renewed and supplied the Alarm and Monitoring System (AMS), Dredge Control System (DCS), Alewijnse Draught and Loading System (ADLS) and the Alewijnse Suction Tube System (ASTS). In this regard, the company provided advanced new HMI and PLC hardware, hardware engineering, software engineering, FAT testing and Bureau Veritas Classification.
The renewal of the dredging automation packages on board the four Jan De Nul vessels formed part of the lifetime extension of the dredgers. The implementation took place worldwide.
"With this order we have further strengthened both our portfolio of automation solutions and our position in the dredging market," explained Johan van Rikxoort, Product Manager Dredging & Offshore at Alewijnse: "In this way we expect our installed base in the field of process and automation solutions to increase four-fold from five dredgers now to 22 within five years."
