The MP-ASVs represent an entirely new vessel type, building on the success of the Elevation Series Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs). While based on the proven CSOV platform and utilising many of the same suppliers, the MP-ASVs are larger measuring 102m x 20m.

As such, they offer increased deck space of 750m2, subsea crane capacity of 150 tonnes and the ability to launch and recover remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Their DC hybrid-electric propulsion system, combined with an efficient power distribution network, delivers significant improvements in efficiency, performance, and onboard comfort.

Complete system integration

Alewijnse will be responsible for the complete integration of all electrical and automation systems on board the advanced vessel. The scope of work includes engineering, automation, and the supply of essential electrical materials such as cables, cable trays, electrical panels, and lighting systems. Alewijnse will also supervise the local installation works.

Damen Shipyards Group selected Alewijnse for this project based on a long-standing and successful collaboration on the construction and refit of workboats, yachts, and naval vessels. Alewijnse’s local presence in Vietnam also played an important role in the contract award.

Construction in Vietnam

Like Windcat’s CSOVs, the MP-ASVs will be built by Damen in Ha Long, Vietnam, where Alewijnse will provide local supervision of the electrical installation work. The switchboards and electrical panels will also be manufactured in Ha Long, at the recently expanded and modernised Alewijnse Vietnam workshop.

One Alewijnse philosophy

The project brings together several Alewijnse locations across Vietnam and Europe, each contributing its own expertise and responsibilities. “This project demonstrates the strength of our One Alewijnse philosophy,” says Martin Terpstra, Segment Manager at Alewijnse. “Teams across our international organisation are combining their knowledge and capabilities to support the construction of this remarkable vessel.”

A promising future

Kees van Doorn, Account Manager at Alewijnse, sees a strong future for the offshore wind market segment. “As the energy transition accelerates, demand for alternative energy sources will continue to grow, driving the development of new offshore wind farms that will require ongoing support and maintenance. These vessels are also suitable for a range of other applications, such as transporting personnel to and from offshore oil platforms. This gives the market a solid and sustainable future outlook. We are pleased to collaborate on these projects with our trusted partners Damen and Windcat.”

Construction of the MP-ASV 10020 commenced in spring 2026 and is expected to be completed in 2028.
