Alewijnse and Tijssen Elektro merge to strengthen the yachting industry
Two companies, one vision, one future

System integrators Alewijnse and Tijssen Elektro are joining forces to take professionalism within the yachting segment to a new level. From 1 June 2023, Tijssen will officially fall under the umbrella of the Alewijnse Group, bringing the companies together in a major advance for the delivery of advanced electrical system integration for all types of yachts from 30 to 130 metres.
When it comes to superyacht construction, the Netherlands is at the top of the league table and Alewijnse is proud to be part of this industry where knowledge, quality and service are all important values. Alewijnse has been an important electrical partner for many leading yacht builders for many years.
With this new combination of forces Alewijnse and Tijssen Elektro will take the yachting sector to an even higher level, with their shared vision for advanced total solutions in electrical engineering and automation for maritime yacht building creating added value. Being a single organization will stimulate innovation and create a technological partner that thinks alongside its clients from the very beginning right through to the delivery of a yacht, thereby exceeding expectations by going that extra mile.
A perfect match for the yachting sector
The bundling of the knowledge and experience of both companies will be unique in the maritime yachting sector. As a turnkey system integrator, Tijssen feels at home on board luxury yachts of up to 60 metres, while over the past 130 years Alewijnse has developed into the market leader in electrical installation, system integration and automation for all types of motor and sailing yachts up to 130 metres. Together, they are a perfect match for the yachting industry.
Gert Bravenboer, CEO at Alewijnse, said: "Our two families are uniting to deliver the best solutions for the yachting industry. Fully complementary to each other, we are uniquely positioned to create value for existing and new customers. Together, we will be the go-to technology partner on all aspects of automation, electrification and digitalisation. From consulting, engineering and installation to commissioning, service and maintenance, it's a perfect fit."
Tijssen Elektro and Alewijnse are a perfect match," adds Pedro Kappen, owner of Tijssen Elektro. “I have run my business successfully for forty years and now the time has come for me to look to the future. Alewijnse is the best choice because the chemistry between the companies means we speak the same language and complement each other. The synergy is great because we stop where Alewijnse starts. Our combined portfolio will broaden all at once to cover yachts from 30 right up to 130 metres. Together, we form a one-stop-shop for every kind of yacht. That way we can completely unburden our customers."

A new chapter in history
"The merger represents a new chapter in the history of both Alewijnse and Tijssen Elektro," adds Gert Bravenboer. "The unification benefits not only both companies, but also our employees, customers, and shareholders. Together we can expand our activities and capabilities, reach new customers, and offer even more innovative solutions to our customers in the increasing complexity of their projects."
"There are many opportunities in the market for small and large yachts that require increasingly complex systems," continues Eddy Huisman, managing director at Tijssen Elektro. "With our combined experience of 184 years, the merger of our skills and experience will enable us to respond perfectly to new trends and developments, as well as offer greater capacity to existing and new customers. I have great confidence in the future."
One-stop-shop partner for the yachting market
Sjaak van der Laan, segment manager yachts at Alewijnse, also sees a bright future ahead. "Tijssen Elektro is a logical choice for a partnership with Alewijnse, as we have been working together on projects for smaller luxury yachts for many years. Together we are complementary in the market and we expect many synergy benefits. This strategic move will bring together the best of both companies and create a one-stop-shop partner for the yacht market. We look forward to the many opportunities and challenges ahead."
