An insight into a half century of experience and new techniques of the future

"When it comes to designing and building complex controlling panels for specific needs and locations, experience really counts."

Bart Teunissen, Electrical Production Supervisor at Alewijnse, gives an insight into the world of designing and building switchboards and panels, which lie at the heart of the control-and-demand systems in ships and industrial environments. He talks about the long experience of Alewijnse - more than half a century - and new techniques such as smart wiring with EPLAN and the use of digital twins, which together take the design and construction of control cabinets to a new, higher level and provide efficiency and cost savings for our customers.

"At Alewijnse we have been creating panels for more than 50 years with the aim of optimising them not only for functionality but also to ensure that each will fit in the space available.

We produce panels for a wide variety of applications, both large and small, and in series as well as for custom projects, and they can be found in maritime, industrial and engineering settings. Our combination of flexible and ergonomic designs with solid know-how and professionalism is valued by customers around the world."

Meeting your needs

"In cooperation with our partners, we are able to build and optimize switchboards to any shape and size. In our dedicated mechanical workshops we construct unique panel designs to any specification using world-class craftsmanship and the latest machine tools.

We make use of the latest 3D design techniques including "digital twin" solutions so that you can verify that the panel fits into the available space prior to installation. Using "smart wiring" software, the most optimal and efficient routes of the wiring between components across the panel is determined while taking into account the electrical and mechanical design rules. Your advantage is that the route of the wiring on the panel is clearly documented, which significantly reduces the risk of errors and saves time in the event of a malfunction or subsequent adjustments."

International Engineering

If you require assistance with the design of your panels, we can help you. As a system integrator, Alewijnse has its own international Engineering Department which enables us to design and build all types of low-voltage switchgear up to 7000A, including distribution boards, motor control centres, drive panels, consoles, control panels and I/O panels, at our various building locations.

Quality

All our switchboards and consoles are built using proven reliable components in application-specific quality enclosures made of stainless steel, steel or plastic. Our goal is to provide our customers with high quality and reliable end products, tailored to their needs. All our panel-based products are therefore extensively tested in our own facilities before they leave our production sites. Our technical staff also regularly participate in training courses to continuously develop their knowledge and skills.

Our panels comply with the latest IEC standards; 61439 and 60204. Alewijnse processes are regularly audited for quality, environmental sustainability, and health and safety standards by an independent certification and monitoring body.

Our customers benefit from clear documentation of the wiring routes on each panel. This significantly reduces the risk of errors and saves time in the event of a malfunction or subsequent adjustments.

Alewijnse production sites worldwide

With three Alewijnse production locations in the Netherlands, one in Romania and a production location in Vietnam, we can offer our local and international clients competitive prices, short logistics lines and flexibility.

Applications

Our end products are used in a wide variety of installations including charging systems, power generation, hybrid propulsion, winches, distribution, control consoles, and exhaust and inert gas systems. We supply the food processing industries as well as water treatment plants, the plasma coating sector and geothermal plants. In addition to land based applications we also design and build panels and consols for ships of all types including yachts and naval and working vessels.

Whatever your specific requirements or applications, we'll be happy to work with you throughout the entire process, from design to commissioning. Together, we will determine the best solutions for your specific needs.
