Alewijnse Marine is close to completing the full electrical installation for the new-build fishing trawler Atlantic Titan. The ultra-modern fishing vessel is the first of an order for the electrical fit-out of three fishing boats that Alewijnse Marine has received from the British company Shipbuilding Asia Ltd UK. Atlantic Titan was launched on 15 June 2018 at Ha Long Shipyard in Vietnam, and the official delivery and naming ceremony will take place in August 2018.
Alewijnse is delivering a complete electrical installation and integration package for the Atlantic Titan and her two sister-ships. “We are designing and supplying almost all the electrical equipment on board, including the switchboards and consoles”, Alewijnse Vietnam Director Daniel Pop explains. “In addition, we are responsible for the supervision and commissioning of all the electrical systems.”
The decision by Shipbuilding Asia to choose Alewijnse Marine for the works was based partly on the presence of the Alewijnse facility in Vietnam, but also on its strong track-record of supporting the nearby Damen shipyard with its specialist skills. “We are very happy to be working with this client,” added Daniel Pop. “We competed against three other companies for the contract and we are proud to have won it. We look forward to continuing to grow our business in Vietnam, especially now the shipbuilding industry here is entering a new stage of growth.”
This series of three trawlers represents a new generation of ultra-modern offshore fishing vessels for a Canadian ship owner. They will operate in the waters off Newfoundland. The 29-metre vessels are being equipped with state-of-the-art technology to the highest international standards for sea fishing.
Alewijnse in Vietnam
Prior to the Shipbuilding Asia contract, Alewijnse already had extensive experience in the installation of electrical systems for both new build and refits in Vietnam. Working with the Damen Shipyards Group, the company has worked on a wide range of tugs and workboats, as well as sophisticated vessels for the Vietnamese and Australian governments. To meet the demand, in early 2018, Alewijnse Marine opened a new production facility for switchboards in Haiphong- Vietnam to produce high-quality switchboards and panels.
