September 2009 - Breakdowns and the failure of critical equipment are something that every yacht skipper dreads – particularly when the owner or charter guests are on board.
The audio-visual system may not strike many as critical, but ask any skipper who’s had a group on board that included children of just about any age and they will tell you that music and movies are vital to keeping younger guests amused while their parents get a chance to relax. With that in mind, Lantic continues to develop and refine the service provision that it offers to its customers to ensure that their systems are always in top condition.
At the forefront of this provision is Lantic’s in-house remote diagnostics capability – a fast and effective way of resolving the issues that can arise with sophisticated, multi-zone entertainment systems. Remote diagnostics allows a technician back at Lantic’s service centre in Denmark to connect directly to a Lantic Entertainment System anywhere in the world via the yacht’s satcom or other similar communications system and run diagnostic tests or upload software in order to determine the cause of a reported problem. Once the problem has been identified the technician can then either adjust the settings directly and thereby resolve the situation, or if needed make recommendations as to the next step.
The great majority of issues that owners can have with their Lantic systems are resolved at this stage, quickly and with a minimum of disruption – vital when guests are on board. In the rare cases where a technician needs to visit the yacht to replace a component or make some other physical intervention then, subject to the terms of the service package that the yacht has signed up to, we can have to you within 24 hours. Call us to find out more.
